New paintings St Mawes Beach I & II are inspired by a holiday my partner Rita and I had for her birthday in Cornwall last year. I loved the great expanse of the shoreline which I knew would translate well into square panoramas. Though it was a sunny day, the clouds at times became heavy and imposing; I decided to accentuate this to blend with the rocky beach. Due to the calm sea, the paintings to me retain a peaceful outlook.
