Walking off with my canvas and easel up to the Downs I didn't quite know what I was going to paint on this March day, but having followed some sheep tracks I found myself on steep embankment, with this splendid view. The wind was carrying the clouds rapidly across the vista, making for an piece full of colour and energy.
