Description: California, and Venice Beach in particular, resonates its own vibe. There’s a certain energy here that’s palpable. A place where creative types have flourished for decades. Certainly eccentric. Classically iconic. Edgy. Having grown up here, this landmark is eminently familiar. Heavily touristed and frequently photographed, I wanted to capture the soul of both the pier and the community. For weeks I contemplated this project before landing on this composition. I love how the swirling clouds and whitewater are juxtaposed against the sharp leading lines of the pier and its shadow. Taken together, your eyes are drawn towards infinity, symbolic of life’s endless opportunities.
