While creating this piece, I aimed to capture the determined and enigmatic expression of a young Indigenous warrior. The red headband he wears symbolizes courage, dignity, and the enduring spirit of his people. The blurred background and splashes of white evoke a sense of time and memory, as if he’s gazing at us from the depths of history.
I used bold and heavy brushstrokes to define his features and emphasized the intense gaze with sharp contrasts of light and shadow. The background was created using a combination of wet and dry techniques for depth, while the white splatter adds dynamic energy and life. The painting seeks a balance between ruggedness and delicacy to express the gentle strength within the figure.
