Original artwork description
This piece is a continuation in my Soundings series. Inspired by the journey of life, this high contrast piece has deep navy color that was achieved with the cyanotype process. Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that produces blue prints using a two part chemical solution brushed on paper and exposed with light, typically the sun. I used the chemical solution to create gestural brushwork and used extra long exposure in the sun to achieve the deep color. The collage paper I coated with the cyanotype is vintage blueprints and nautical sailing charts. This paper ephemera symbolizes the record of personal history and voyages.
This piece is signed on the back and ready to hang.
