“Soul Search” is a painting that didn’t happen in one sitting. It began years ago and stayed with me, unfinished, almost waiting. I returned to it several times — each time from a different emotional place.

This work isn’t a landscape in the traditional sense. It feels more like an internal space. Layers of oil build a dense atmosphere — muted violets, smoky blues, deep greens. There’s a small light in the center, almost hidden. Not dramatic. Just persistent.

For me, this painting is about sitting with uncertainty. About allowing something to mature instead of forcing a conclusion. Some artworks need technical work. Others need time. This one needed both.

The textured surface carries that history — scratches, reworked areas, moments of opacity and transparency. You can almost see the different stages of thought inside it.

This is what “soul search” feels like to me: not a sudden revelation, but a slow shift in how you see.
