Original artwork description
This sculpture has been entirely hand-carved and polished from basalt, a stone that is extremely hard and complex to sculpt and polish. I chose to leave some parts of the rock in their natural state so that the figure of the woman could emerge more powerfully, as if she were the very spirit of the stone coming to life.
