Sorry, I'm Walking The Dog (2017)Oil painting by Emma Cownie

Original artwork description
I find it funny how people cannot stop using their smartphones even while doing simple things like walking their dogs.
They can't bear to be without them even during such a pleasant activty as walking your dog.
This painting is a wry smile and commentary on modern living, with the dog not happy at this arrangement, the person on the other side of the phone not completely happy at their conversation being interrupted and the person walking the dog increasingly annoyed at having to do two things at the same time.
It seems we have little time for simply doing nothing, relaxing, we have to multi task everywhere we go, which is often counterproductive.
This is a snapshot, a vignette of everyday life and our reltionship with technology and how it governs how we live.
It seems it is technology taking us for a walk.
