Original artwork description:

This is part of a series of paintings I completed in the summer of 2019 around the theme of discontinued foods, retro tech, and vintage design. A celebration of failed product launches, beautiful but outdated technology, and banned snacks, the paintings were originally completed for at exhibition in Hackney Wick, London.

Growing up as a music-obsessed teenager in the 90s meant that I went through several Walkmans to play my cherished cassette tapes on. I'm still a huge fan of music but in the digital age of streaming and downloads I sometimes miss owning a physical, tactile object to play music from.

This pop art style painting shows the bright red Sony WM-22 Walkman. I love this style of colourful, chunky 80s Walkman, I've painted a few in the past. It would make a great gift for any music lover or fan of retro items.

It is painted in acrylics and Posca pen on an A2 sized canvas.
Size -
16.5 inches x 23.4 inches
42 cm x 59.5 cm
1.5 cm thick

I've been inspired to create work like this by classic pop artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Patrick Caulfield.

Postage will be first class and tracked.

I can also do paintings to order, so if you'd like anything in a similar style, or want a sold out piece repeating, then just message me and I can create an order for you through ArtFinder.

Materials used:

Acrylic Paint, Paintbrush, Posca Pens
