Soft Armor explores how we navigate vulnerability in an age of constant background anxiety. An oversized black hoodie becomes more than clothing—it transforms into a psychological shelter, a protective layer between the fragile inner self and an unpredictable world.
Set within an ordinary domestic space, the figure stands in a moment of quiet emotional exhaustion. Her posture, lowered gaze, and flushed face capture the familiar feeling of simply trying to gather enough strength to face another day. Rather than idealizing the subject, I wanted to paint the honesty of fatigue and the quiet weight we often carry unseen.
Expressive brushwork and the exaggerated volume of the hoodie emphasize its protective presence, while the muted yellow interior reinforces a sense of emotional stillness. In the background, a vase with dried branches introduces a subtle vanitas symbol—a reminder of paused time, neglect, and the emotional stagnation that often accompanies burnout.
