This delicate watercolor work takes us to a magical Christmas night somewhere in the Bavarian or Tyrolean Alps.
In the foreground is a charming glass Christmas tree ball in the shape of a chubby boy in a traditional Bavarian costume: a yellow hat with a feather, a white shirt, leather Styrian shorts with embroidery and edelweiss, high leg warmers and black shoes with buckles.
On the top of the toy’s head is a real gold star pendant, from which warm light softly flows, as if from a small lantern.
The background immerses us in a snow-covered alpine village: the peaked roofs of the chalets are buried in snowdrifts, the windows glow with a cozy yellow light, and majestic mountain peaks, illuminated by the moon, rise above it all. Light snow softly falls in large flakes, creating a feeling of silence and anticipation of a miracle.
The picture is filled with warm nostalgia for old European Christmases: here is the aroma of mulled wine, the ringing of sleigh bells, and the anticipation of the first gift under the tree.
