Small 2 is a landscape linocut print based on the dramatic natural scenes from Yosemite Valley, California.
This is a two block print, a reduction block is printed first and a solid block of the 'outline' printed over the top. in this case the top layer is not a solid colour but dark green, brown and blue reflecting the image underneath.

Linocuts are a traditional method of hand printmaking. A piece of Lino is carved with an image by the artist using carving tool, then inked with specialist inks and printed onto paper. In the case of a reduction print this process is repeated many times each time with a different colour of ink, until the final image appears. A reduction print also means there is no going back. At the end of the process only a tiny piece of the original piece of Lino will remain. The edition is always limited- no more can ever be printed. Small 2 is a reduction print on the first block with a second more detailed block printed over the top. This second block started as the print 'Small' but a few changes were made, so both prints are slightly different.

Each print is hand printed, and so there are always tiny variations. This makes each one a stand alone piece of art.

This is a limited edition of only 10 prints. The printed area is 10.5 x 20.5cm approx and the hand torn paper is approximately 21x 29cm. Each print is printed with oil based artist quality inks on white Fabriano Unica printmaking paper.

All prints are sent backed by card and cellophane wrapped. Included is a certificate of authenticity which explains the process. The print will be well packaged in a reinforced envelope and sent flat.
