Contemporary vanity: metal lace skull
The skull, a classic subject of vanity, is magnified here. Far from being macabre, it symbolises fragility and the passage of time, captured permanently by the solidity of the metal.
The perforated surface gives the illusion of a material degraded by time, while revealing the light through its metal ‘mesh’.
The head is supported by steel and bronze rods that raise it above a solid base, adding a dynamic and almost vegetal dimension to the whole.
