Silver Kettle (2026) Original Oil Painting by Nimasha Perera

25.4 x 30.48 x 0.3cm (unframed) / 25.4 x 30.48cm (actual image size)

£565.59

This painting began with a fascination with reflections, the way silver bends and distorts the world around it, turning a simple teapot into a mirror of everything nearby.

The lattice body of the teapot presented a particular challenge, each diamond of glass catching the teal background differently, some absorbing it, some deflecting it, some dissolving into near-abstraction. Painted in oils, the work builds up these reflections layer by layer, chasing the complexity of what the eye actually sees rather than what the mind assumes.

The vivid teal background was chosen to amplify the cool, luminous quality of the silver, creating a painting that is as much about colour and light as it is about the object itself.
