While creating this painting, I wanted to express the timeless wisdom, dignity, and inner strength of a Native American through a calm yet powerful gaze. Rather than adding a complex background, I chose a spacious composition and soft cool tones to direct the viewer’s attention toward the subject’s expression and emotional presence. Using rhythmic brushwork, layered scraped textures, and subtle warm–cool color transitions, I gave depth to the feathers, facial features, and fur while preserving the spontaneity of each brushstroke. My goal was to create a portrait that balances expressive freedom with a profound sense of humanity and spirit.
