Original artwork description
This painting was created for a group exhibition in Tbilisi in November 2025, where seven painters were invited to interpret the same subject: the town of Sighnaghi. Each artist brought a personal vision, making the project a dialogue of perspectives on one of Georgia’s most beloved places.
Sighnaghi, often called the “City of Love,” is known for its romantic atmosphere and its unique tradition of 24-hour marriage registration. Yet for me, its deeper beauty lies beyond the stories—it is in its extraordinary location. Perched above the vast Alazani Valley, the town opens onto one of the most breathtaking landscapes in Georgia, a region rich with vineyards and centuries-old winemaking culture.
In this work, I focused on the layered rhythm of rooftops, the quiet intimacy of old architecture, and the expansive horizon where the valley meets the mountains. The contrast between the warm, textured houses and the cool, distant blues creates a sense of depth and calm, reflecting both the human scale of the town and the grandeur of the landscape.
This painting is not just a view of Sighnaghi, but a personal response to its atmosphere—a place where history, everyday life, and vast nature coexist in balance.
