SHINE
Fine Art Photography by Inna Etuvgi
From the “INNERSPACE DREAMSCAPES” collection

“When the SSRIs kick in”

In "Shine," the dewdrop is a visual metaphor for the “me-idea” within an inner space filled with sparkling emotions. It captures a state of being where there is no rush and no worry—only a moment to savor shiny joy and happy carelessness.

THE CONTEXT:

InnerSpace Dreamscapes is a philosophical macro series that visualizes the invisible architecture of the mind. As an artist with aphantasia—the inability to form mental images—Inna Etuvgi uses the camera as a bridge to a world she cannot see internally but can perceive through ideas and emotions.

In this series, the dewdrop acts as a direct metaphor for consciousness itself. It is a crystallization of awareness suspended within an inner landscape coloured by emotions and made of verbal constructs and abstract concepts. InnerSpace Dreamscapes is the space where the micro-nature of the outside world becomes a mirror for the psyche.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Inna Etuvgi is a Swedish-Chukchi artist whose work defines the concept of Cybernetic Animism—a bridge between indigenous Arctic intuition and technical precision. Raised in a remote village in Chukotka and trained in technical cybernetics, Etuvgi explores the shared "soul" of natural ecosystems and digital algorithms.

Living with Aphantasia—the inability to visualize mental images—Etuvgi uses her camera and Generative AI as a "visual prosthesis" to externalize deep emotional landscapes. Her macro photography magnifies nature’s smallest details, urging a shift from a human-centered worldview to one of interconnectedness.

Internationally recognized as an Arte Laguna Prize finalist (Venice) and a recipient of the Swedish Arts Grants Committee grant, Etuvgi’s work is held in private collections worldwide. As art critic Tabish Khan notes: “Her work transports us to other worlds—both real and imaginary, but always in harmony with nature.”
