Original artwork description
Shepperton Lock began with a confident ground of orange over which I built the greens and blues. This view inspired me as to the contrast between the organic outline of the trees and the echoing arches of the bridge and barges. Rather than paint and finish ‘alla prima’ (on the spot) I enjoyed working for a few hours afterwards in the studio, quite unusually for my practice.
