"Shadows of Spring in Salupiai"
The entire painting is done in a classic oil-on-canvas style, except for the green fence, which is painted with acrylics. This vibrant, color-filled painting depicts a sunlit spring path winding through orchards all the way to the forest, with striking violet and blue shadows falling across it. Painted in 2025, this work is especially meaningful to me as it reflects my current ideas and marks a shift in my painting style. That same year, it was exhibited at the new Kaunas gallery PASSWORD_1. This is a triptych consisting of three paintings, each measuring 100 x 140 cm, with a total size of 300 x 140 cm. Personally signed on the front and the back and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, ensuring the uniqueness and origin of this piece.

I chose to depict this scene not only because it shows the street where I currently live, but also because it was ideal for exploring the challenge of representing space and time on a two-dimensional plane. For this reason, the work is painted on three separate canvases – each canvas reflecting a different viewpoint and perspective. My exploration of this concept was inspired by the works of David Hockney. In this way, the painting becomes more than just a single-perspective image as captured by a camera; it is closer to the experience of a human observer. This is a central theme in my work, serving as a response to the stream of AI-generated images, which lack time, space, and an observer (a simulation). This piece is also especially meaningful to me because it is inspired by the colors of spring and is bolder in its use of color compared to my previous works. Additionally, it was the first work in which I experimented with a new creative process, one that I continue to use successfully to this day.

Technical Details and Style
During the creative process, I drew a color sketch for each canvas on-site (in situ) using an iPad. In the studio, I used these as the primary visual information for the painting. I painted this work using relatively pure colors, which will help the intensity last and prevent fading over many years. I enjoy painting without "hiding" the brushstrokes and colors, allowing the viewer to approach and see the painting process itself. This was my approach here as well. I used areas of clear color and brushstrokes of various sizes and rhythms, giving the work color contrast, vibration, and authenticity. Different brushwork and paint thickness provide the painting with varying textures, which is particularly evident in the thuja hedge and the surrounding color fields. The surfaces of different color patches also vary because some were thinned using varnish, while others utilized turpentine or oil. As a result, when viewed from different angles, one can see how the light "refracts" differently. Acrylic paint was used to paint the green fence because it dries faster (this is the only place where acrylic paint was used). Additionally, the work consists of three canvases (a triptych), each representing a different vantage point and perspective, allowing the eye to move across the entire composition.

Shipping Information
This painting is of exhibition format, so shipping it with the wooden stretchers would be significantly more expensive. To save on shipping costs, the canvases will be removed from the stretchers and rolled onto a transport tube, then wrapped in soft foam and packed into a hard cardboard or plastic tube.

Note: Upon receiving the painting, you will need to have it re-stretched onto a frame at a local framing shop.

Please note,
Import duties and taxes may be applied to your order upon arrival in your country. These charges are beyond our control and vary by location. You are responsible for covering any such fees. For accurate information, please consult your local customs authority before placing an order.
