This set of two watercolor birds are colorful and will make a perfect gift for the festive season to bring cheer to your dear ones!
Two robin birds seem to be discussing the winter that's shortly going to land on them! Will they be able to have enough food? Will they be able to sing in the harsh and cold winter too?
We all know that a robin sings in summer to attract its mate but its song in winter means that the bird has built up enough fat reserves to survive the cold nights and has enough energy left to defend its territory! Winters are harsh on the animal kingdom, from getting food to keeping warm to survive in the open! So what can we do to help them?
Watercolours on textured 270gsm handmade paper.
Size : 11.75"x 8.25" (unframed)

The second watercolor is of the blue-and-gold macaws, enjoying nature! These we know make great pets. I have known an "animal lover" celebrity in my city who has kept these in a large cage on his balcony. There are three of them. They are fed regularly.
But. There is nobody to talk to them and make them feel wanted as pets. They just exist, screaming and making so much noise, cocking their heads and chatting with each other in a cage that has nothing but a dry fat branch for them to perch on. Whenever I look at them and say "hello" they try to speak to me. They seem happy. Obviously, they are feeling lonely.
These birds, I hear, live very long, even up to 65 to 70 years in caring captivity. In this case, these will be living in a cage for the rest of their lives. It's so painful even to imagine. In the wild, these have a life span of 30 to 35 years only, but that's lived in freedom! In the fresh air, among the green trees, pluck and eat what you like! How cruel can humans get, to cage these wonderful birds, maybe their feathers are clipped too.
I personally feel birds should never be kept in cages as pets. It's cruelty to a creature that spreads its wings and soars in the sky.
This painting of three blue and gold macaws is a tribute to those macaws that are caged, imprisoned for life, cursed to live in a city instead of in the lovely deep forests!
