This piece bursts with colour and personality. Six stylised tabby cats, and a couple of mice, fill the canvas, each one in a bold, geometric, maze‑like pattern. Their bodies are outlined with rhythmic lines that interlock and overlap, giving the whole composition a lively, musical energy. It has a colourful palette of vibrant blues, yellows, oranges, and warm earth tones. The cats are abstracted into playful shapes and patterns, giving them a totemic, symbolic presence. They appear layered and intertwined, as if they’ve all arrived at once; crowded, curious, like a bundle of guests turning up in early autumn. The mood is cheerful, whimsical, and slightly mysterious. This is a celebration of feline personality. Each cat is distinct, yet part of a harmonious, colourful ensemble. This was painted after a summer of visitors was tailing off in September. I don't think that the characters in the painting or the theme are in anyway representative of these, but who can say?
