This painting was created in 2004. It is a nude study which explores the hidden disability we have in our political system. At the time this was a response to what was happening abroad, as well as the problems of contemporary political society and the growing loss of a leg to stand on and no seat to sit upon in this system of one-party governance.
The painting is on Chinese wood panel, painted in an expressive style and entered into the BP Portrait Award (un-chosen). Rubbed into the surface is a symbolic mark on the wall of the figure seen in the original Planet of the Apes of the boundary marker for Apes land.
