Segnaletica belongs to the Ominidi cycle — Cecconello's sustained investigation into the human figure as archetypal presence rather than individual subject. In this work, the pictorial field does not frame the figure: it generates it through contrast and material density.
A dark silhouette anchors the vertical axis of the composition, rising from a layered ground built from overlapping geometric signs — rectangles, crosses, circles, arrows, incised marks that traverse the surface like a script that precedes language. The surface carries physical weight: relief, dripped pigment, worked matter in a range moving between deep earth reds, ochre, and black.
The figure does not inhabit the space; it endures and transcends it. The signs that surround it — geometric, serial, near-codified — suggest a system of meaning that the human form moves through without deciphering.
