Atlantis, from the Ancient Greek, is a fictional island mentioned in Plato's works Timaeus and Critias as part of an allegory on the hubris of nations. In the story, Atlantis is described as a naval empire that ruled all Western parts of the known world. Atlantis falls out of favour with the deities and submerges into the Atlantic Ocean. I see this as an allegory for what is happening now, and it is easy to tell which country is Atlantis. This painting is an emotional depiction of the modern-day fall and what comes next. This artwork is painted in the abstract expressionist genre.

This work is painted on professional-grade canvas and has been sealed with varnish. The canvas is 170 cm in width by 120 cm in height, and the sides are painted in the same style as the front.

The artwork was created in May 2025.
