Alexander Levich’s Scotch finds its subject in a small ritual of leisure. A tumbler of amber whisky and ice stands on a reflective table, beside an ashtray and a hand holding a cigar. The face remains beyond the frame, leaving the relaxed gesture to suggest the person’s presence.
Levich gives particular attention to the light passing through the drink and catching the edges of the glass. Warm browns and golden tones surround these bright details, while touches of turquoise keep the palette varied. A fine curl of smoke rises against the darker clothing.
The visible brushwork moves between careful observation in the foreground and softer suggestions of bottles behind. Together, these elements create a sense of time passing slowly.
