Original artwork description:

In "Schutzraum" (Shelter), I explore the tension between security and exposure. The title refers to the desire for an inner and outer place of safety – in a world characterized by fragmentation, loss, and overwhelm.

The collage of photographs, drawn figures, text fragments, and everyday objects (such as a clothespin or a holy image) creates a symbolic topography of memory. Each element represents traces of life, care, spirituality, and vulnerability.

The "Madonna della Corona" becomes the center of the shelter – a symbol of comfort and care, but also of suffering and compassion. Fragile image fragments are grouped around her, connected or separated by seams, lines, and color fields.

The blend of graphics and assemblage points to the simultaneity of closeness and distance, physicality and abstraction. The use of everyday materials and gestural elements conveys the struggle for stability and identity in the fragile web of past and present.

Thus, Schutzraum becomes a visual meditation on the need for protection, memory and solidarity – and on the fragility of those places where we want to feel safe.

Schutzraum - Shelter is a combine painting in mixed media technique. Graphics, transfer printing and small objects tell the story of Maria and Jesus on old letters.

The work is made on a 3 cm thick MDF block, the sides are painted black, all surfaces are protected with matt UV varnish. Signature on the on the side, as well as a certificate of authenticity.

Materials used:

Acryl, Marker, Charcoal
