It was on a trip through Brazil many years ago that I first heard the word saudade [sawˈdadʒ]. What an amazing sound, so soft and sensual. But it's not just the sound, it's also its meaning.

Saudade cannot be translated with a single word, because it expresses feelings - longing, desire, nostalgia.

Feelings that are supposed to be awaken in every viewer.

The many layers of paint hide stories that only partially come to light. The collage of old book pages in old German script shows even more how much of the past is in this picture. It tells and tells and yet you will never find out everything.


It´s a large striking centerpiece painting on professionally stretched canvas. The edges are painted so it is supplied ready to hang.
