Original artwork description
Saraswati is the patron Goddess of Arts and Learning in the Hindu pantheon; the peacock is her official "vehicle". One of her hands holds a stack of palm leaves - the popular writing surface in the early days of writing. This painting was based on the original by Raja Ravi Verma, India's pioneering western realism painter. I made this painting as a challenge to myself.
