Original artwork description:

This painting is a replica of a larger commission. I undertook this work because of the fascinating story and the grandeur of the scene, drawn from Hindu mythology.

The tale speaks of the cosmic ocean, churned by both the forces of good (demi gods) and evil (demons) in pursuit of immortality. At first, only poison rose to the surface, for the serpent Vasuki had been used as the rope. Yet they did not falter. Persevering through the venom, they continued their task, and in time fourteen treasures emerged - among them the nectar of immortality.

Hindu mythology is rich in symbolism. This tale serves as a reminder that when one begins to brainstorm, balancing both intellect and ego, many obstacles may arise at first. But those who remain steadfast, keeping their gaze fixed on the ultimate goal, will eventually uncover the treasures that lie hidden beneath the struggle.
