Samba Man (2019)Oil painting
by Stephen Benedek

1 Artist Review

£363.95

A member of a Latin percussion band seen at a Samba festival. He is completely engrossed in the rhythms of his music , but at the same time , aware of the effect on the audience.
The band "s music was a complex but well coordinated mix of beats from different types of percussion instruments. An interesting and mesmerizing mix of sounds. There were no melodic instruments , although for some of the pieces , there was a female singer fronting the band.
The young man was painted with a carefully layered, traditional , realist technique , using oils. The background is, however a simple abstract, done (hopefully) , to convey action and movement.
Done on a gallery style canvas ,painted around the sides.

Materials used:

Winsor and Newton oil paints
