Salt wedge (2015)Oil painting by Gina Parr
90 x 90 x 4.4cm (unframed) / 90 x 90cm (actual image size)
£3,500
Original artwork description
From the series Gone fishin' with Wilf'
The Artist remembers as a child fishing with her father Wilf' and the changes in the coastal landscape, a metaphor for the passage of time. Weather for mood, landscape for feeling, whilst exploring the fine line between pure abstraction and figurative recognition, between spontaneity and intention during the painting process.
Salt wedge estuaries occur when the mouth of a river flows directly into salt water. The circulation is controlled by the river that pushes back the seawater. This creates a sharp boundary that separates an upper less salty layer from an intruding wedge-shaped salty bottom layer.
Signed on the side of the canvas and ready to hang.
