The Salt Lake is located on the southern coast of the Taman Peninsula.
In summer, the lake dries up almost completely and its surface is covered with a thin layer of coarse-crystalline salt. There is a layer of black mud under the salt layer. To the touch, this mud resembles silt, only there is a strong smell of hydrogen sulfide.
