This watercolor represents the upper part of the village of Saint-Guilhem le Désert, classified among the most beautiful villages in France. We can see Gellone Abbey, a treasure of Languedoc Romanesque art, founded more than a thousand years ago in the heart of the Hérault Gorges (south of France). The village grew up around it. In the background we can see the vertiginous cliffs of the 'Cirque de l'Infernet', nicknamed 'le bout du monde' (the end of the world). The vegetation in the foreground already has autumn colors. This watercolour was made in-situ at the end of September 2024 on Arches 100% cotton 300g paper. This work is perfectly framed (see photo) and ready to hang.
