Original artwork description
This is a painting that combines a child's feeling of a holiday from a trip and the tragedy of war. The painting depicts children in the window of a train that is taking them to be evacuated from Ukraine, where the war broke out. Children do not yet know that this parting with their parents outside the window will be for a long time. For now, they are just thinking about the trip, which can become an interesting adventure for them. Only the yellow teddy bear, which the children took with them, looks sadly and worriedly at the military planes in the sky. This toy is the only one that reproduces the true meaning of this trip - evacuation, escape, fear. In the glare of the window glass, parents can be seen waving to their children. Parents try to smile and reassure their children, but it is impossible to hide anxiety on their faces.
"Sad Yellow Bear" is a meeting of two worlds: peace and war, naive childhood and cruel adult world. Bright colors on this canvas meet with gray.
This painting, thanks to the children's faces, resembles a beautiful Christmas card, but unfortunately, it means something completely different.
