Moody and atmospheric, this abstract artwork was inspired by walking in the autumn air, beside Rutland Water. The lake is vast and surrounded by stunning countryside. I have tried in this piece to reflect the ethereal and mysterious quality of this region of the English Countryside.

Several layers of oil paint have been gradually built up, using both palette knife and brushwork to create this contemporary oil painting.

Please note: this artwork is very difficult to photograph! The 'true north light' brings out the pinky tones, whereas if hanging in a shadowy spot, the painting takes on a bluey hue (please see all photographs).

This artwork is painted on gesso primed, stretched Italian linen, using Michael Harding artist oil colours. The edges of the canvas are painted white, so that this artwork can be displayed either framed or unframed. The painting is signed on the back and comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity.
