In creating this piece, I delved into the potent energies of mysticism and history conveyed through minimalist symbolism. The textured blends of oil and wax evoke a tactile depth, while the stark, rune-like symbols carved gently into the center panel whisper ancient wisdom. The fiery reds bordering the serene, weathered white center invite a dialogue between passion and peace—a visual and emotional dichotomy meant to stir and soothe the soul of any space it graces.

Encaustic is a wax based paint composed of beeswax, damar resin and pigment or oil paint, which is kept molten on a heated palette. It is applied in several layers of combined colors to the surface with brushes and then reheated in order to fuse the paint. Then It can be carved to reveal the underneath colors, scraped, dipped, textured and so on.
