Original artwork description
The title The Drunken Ship echoes Rimbaud’s famous poem Le Bateau Ivre, in which a boat breaks free from all constraints and surrenders to the chaos of the ocean and imagination. Similarly, this painting seems to revel in abandon—where control dissolves and raw emotion takes the helm. It’s not about destination, but the wild, unfiltered experience of the voyage.
A vessel adrift on a molten tide,
Torn from the stars where shadows hide.
Its hull is cracked with painter’s flame,
A map of loss, of love, of name.
Colors clash like storm-tossed cries,
In a sea of dusk beneath gold skies.
No compass here, no charted course—
Just chaos shaped by passion’s force.
This abstract composition evokes the tumultuous journey of a vessel lost in emotional or existential drift. The jagged black forms at the base resemble a churning sea or void, while the fragmented shapes above suggest the fractured remains of a ship—or perhaps a soul—buffeted by unseen storms. Swirls of ochre, peach, and violet bleed into one another like memory or dream, hinting at beauty born from disorder.
