Original artwork description
Painted on-site in the Iris Garden of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. Features a tall bearded iris flower. "Roaring Twenties" is the name of this iris variety. It is a gem of a specimen in a gem of a collection. In this detailed painting, the iris flower has super-ruffled petals. The lower petals are bright pink with touches of purple and white edges. The top petals are a pale cream color. This makes a striking contrast with the background, which is painted in shades of deep indigo blue and blue-green. There is also a second lower bud, just beginning to open, on the flower stem.
