Rhythms of the Motherland II – Original Acrylic Painting on Canvas (Unstretched, Ships Rolled)

A Visual Symphony of Heritage, Spirit, and Geometry

This original acrylic painting is a vivid celebration of African heritage, symbolism, and spiritual continuity. Blending elements of abstract cubism with Afro-futurist geometry, the piece bridges tradition and modernity, offering a bold, soulful visual journey that resonates with rhythm and depth.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT/ INSPIRATION

At the heart of the composition lies my signature golden circular spiral coil, a recurring motif throughout my work. In many African cultures, the spiral embodies:

● The continuous journey of life
● The natural cycles of time and renewal
● The flow of energy between the physical and spiritual realms

Surrounding this central form are modern Afrocentric geometric patterns that radiate outward like a heartbeat, echoing the pulse of the Motherland. Through layered shapes, textured surfaces, and subtle tonal transitions, the artwork evokes movement, ritual, and cosmic harmony, capturing the eternal rhythm of the ancestors, the earth, and the future.
