Rhyddings House is an old mansion house built in the 18th century. It is the oldest house in Brynmill. It was once surrounded by orchards and views across the hills.
In the early 19th century Thomas Bowdler lived here. Bowdler is best known for taking "unsuitable" bits out of texts like Shakespeare so that they were suitable for women and children. His "Family Shakespeare" was very popular in the 1820s and went into 5 editions.
