In this painting, I aimed to capture the velocity and vitality of the underwater world. The koi are not passive decorative forms but living energies swirling and intersecting within water and light. I juxtaposed bold reds, oranges, and greens to create visual tension, allowing color itself to drive the sense of motion.
Compositionally, I structured diagonal, intersecting lines of movement so the fish appear to circle and collide rhythmically. Technically, I combined impasto with scraping strokes to build layers of flowing water, while splattered and dotted marks suggest bubbles and splashes, blurring the boundary between air and water. Through dynamic warm–cool contrasts and flickering highlights, I sought to convey the explosive vitality of life in motion.
