Retro Current (2025)Acrylic painting by Leah Nadeau

63.5 x 63.5 x 5.08cm (framed) / 60.96 x 60.96cm (actual image size)

£2,230.35

This is an acrylic and oil pastel painting on gallery wrapped 1.5 inch thick canvas, 24 inches tall by 24 inches wide.
Exhibited at Palm Springs Modernism Show 2026.

Meaning:

Until recently, I didn’t realize I had synesthesia. When music plays, the rhythm overtakes me—I don’t just hear it, I see it. Certain songs unlock entire color palettes, shifting my mood and pulling me deeper into my process.

Lady Gaga just released a new album, and I had it on repeat while painting this piece. She’s been one of my favorite artists since I was 18. I even had a poster of her in my dorm room, the only artwork I kept on my walls for years. Her music, her fearlessness, her artistry—they’ve all inspired me to be bold and live my truth.

This piece is made with favorite shades of orange, blue, and green, fusing into a stained-glass effect that feels like pure energy, like music turned into color.

Materials used:

acrylic and oil
