Artwork description
Living in rural Andalucia, you see retinto cattle just about everywhere. This mother and calf belong to my neighbour and the often come and graze next to my studio window, which gives me the ideal opportunity to draw them.
The Retinto is the most numerous breed in Spain with a high concentration in Andalucia, where the breed originated. The breed is dark red with a black nose and hooves and lyre shaped horns. The Retinto originated from a combination of Andalusian Red, Extremadura Red and Andalusian Blond.
