Original artwork description
"This artwork is a powerful continuation of my ‘Arboreal Alphabet’ series—an ongoing collection born from observing the natural calligraphic language written into the forest landscape. Walking through the woods, I am constantly fascinated by how tree stems, roots, and branches naturally twist, cross, and bight together to form unmistakable alphabetic glyphs and structural arches. This piece deconstructs and re-composes those found organic letterforms into my personal, abstract landscape language.
A core element of this series is capturing the shifting personality of tree bark under different atmospheric conditions. Here, the palette explodes into brilliant, sun-drenched yellows, warm oranges, and deep mineral purples, evoking the exact moment intense sunshine hits wet bark, causing the damp surfaces to glow and dry rapidly. Using an expressive, heavily textured impasto technique with a palette knife, I build up thick, sculptural layers of paint that mimic this rugged, dynamic botanical skin.
