Red viburnum (2025)Watercolour

Original artwork description
Before the viewer lies a still life wrapped in a pearly mist, filled with quietness and the fading breath of autumn. At the center stands a clear, rectangular glass vase, holding gracefully curved branches of red viburnum. The clusters of berries — vivid yet restrained — are the last bright sparks of the passing season. There are no leaves, and this absence gives the bouquet a sense of pure line and simplicity, almost a touch of melancholy elegance.
Beside it, to balance the composition, rest two white porcelain bowls, each holding a few scattered berries. Another branch lies across the surface — a gentle reminder that all living things eventually come to rest.
The color palette is muted and refined: soft pearly grays, silvery tones, pale beige and cool rose hues melt into one another. Only the red berries speak distinctly — a quiet pulse of warmth amid the stillness, like a small beating heart before winter’s silence.
The air of the painting feels thoughtful and tender, filled with the calm of farewell. It is more than a still life — it’s a reflection on time itself, on the kind of beauty that needs no excess, and on the delicate balance between life and repose.
This watercolor feels like a meditation on silence — a moment when autumn gently steps aside, leaving behind only the soft, glowing memory of red viburnum.
