This small work, rich in realism and colour, depicts a simple terrace in Beverley, East Yorkshire. "This town is my hometown, the place of my birth, the site of my earliest memories. Here I first walked, talked and learned about the world. So each brick, each terrace sparks memories." The work is deceptively detailed, full of mystery, curtains that seem to flicker, twitch, move and hide, bricks suffused with warmth and somewhere is the hint of creosote, the distant hum of a radio.
