Modern encaustic makes it possible to do various combinations of artistic techniques. The first layer of this painting is painted with watercolour on paper. The paper is glued on a thick MDF panel. Then I painted with hot encaustic (it is a mixture of beeswax, dammar resin, pigment.) This mixture is called wax medium. It is heated on a special cooker to a temperature of about 190 degrees Fahrenheit. Each layer is additionally fused to the previous one. I used a special hairdryer. Not the kind you dry your hair with. On top of the even layer of medium, I applied an extra thickness on which I made the structure. The structure is also fused with the previous layers._x000D_
The result is a pattern with an interesting texture. The surface is smooth, hard with a slight satin sheen._x000D_
The melting point of wax medium is degrees Fahrenheit (or 70 degrees Celsius). So even in the hottest of summers, the layers of the painting will remain intact._x000D_
