Where we are from is in us, not just in this life but in our cognitive memory, our very DNA. We associate and feel familiarity from photos and images from hundreds of years ago. We feel our spirit and connect with buildings and people of old this is what happened me as I painted 'The Rare Ould Times.' I felt my great-grandfathers childish spirit wonder the old cobble stone streets and my great-grandmothers heart skip as she looked at the new moving pictures come to her town. I felt the colours of the time, the feeling and moods of the street, the mindset, the poverty and simplicity . It was a wonderful experience to paint this . I hope the viewer experiences their own connection to this painting and feels their own type of familiarity when they look into it. For me, this is what a painting should be and a great accomplishment to achieve this. Originally painted with fine Rembrandt oils on Canvas. Prints available on Archival Woven paper 300grm . 80x60cm (32x24 inches).
