Rambling Rose
Flora Britannica - Paint Blooms
A new series of gestural paintings, in which the paint itself blossoms and grows on the canvas, suggesting the forms of nature.

The painting is on stretched, primed and gessoed strong paper which will be rolled for shipping.

Obscure, obscured, memories, intentions indiscernible, floating beyond reach, ephemeral. The paintings in this series are many layered, painted over years, with older drawings and paintings below the surface, some of which are visible, others not.

Accessing the deep and subconscious dreams and desires that perfume and scent awakens.

Inspired by a visit to the ancient frescoes on the wall of the Chapter House at Westminster Abbey, of which only small remnants are visible, Also by the history of perfume, its links with medicine and science, theology and culture and Marcel Prousts 'À la recherche du temps perdu'
