In Quiet Exposure, Igor Galan continues his innovative exploration of image-making through labor-intensive, hand-painted pointillism. Using nothing but tiny dots of acrylic and enamel, he constructs a haunting monochrome portrait of a nude woman who meets the viewer’s gaze without hesitation. From a distance, the halftone illusion evokes vintage photography – but up close, the intricate craftsmanship becomes apparent.

Created in 2018 during a period of visual experimentation, the painting merges figuration with abstraction, modern with traditional, and intimacy with visual restraint. Its surface carries the tension of time: each dot a decision, each shadow a structure of attention.
